1. What La Tutora does with your voice and typing
La Tutora is an AI Spanish tutor. When you speak in a lesson, your voice is streamed as live audio to Google's Gemini AI service, which answers you. When you type in a chat, your message and recent chat lines are sent to Google Gemini. You must agree to this in the app before your first lesson. If you decline, or withdraw later, you cannot use AI lessons.
We do not keep your voice recordings or lesson transcripts. After a lesson, the lesson text is used once, sent to Google Gemini to write short private notes for your tutor, and then discarded by us. We keep the notes, not the transcript.
Google's handling is separate from ours. Google may process and keep what it receives under its own terms and safety practices. We don't control that. Google publishes how it handles this data in its Gemini API terms and privacy notices; please read them at https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
2. What we collect and store

The app also stores one small flag on your phone recording that setup is complete. It stores no advertising identifiers, and we don't run analytics or ad SDKs. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. Who receives data
- Google (Gemini): your live audio, typed messages, and lesson text, to run the tutor and write notes.
- Supabase: hosts our database, sign-in, and server functions. Our database is hosted in the United States (AWS US East).
- RevenueCat: receives your La Tutora account ID (a random ID, not your name or email) and your App Store purchase information to manage subscriptions.
- Apple: provides Sign in with Apple and processes all App Store payments. We never see your card or Apple password.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. How long we keep it
We have not set automatic deletion periods. Learning data, notes, lesson and usage records, and consent records stay until you delete them or delete your account (section 5). Deleted data may remain in our hosting provider's routine backups for a limited time before they are overwritten. Data held by Google, Apple, or RevenueCat follows their own retention.
5. Your choices
- See and delete tutor memories: Account → Memories.
- Withdraw AI consent: email aaron@marketlou.com, or delete your account in the app. You can also simply stop having AI lessons; nothing is sent to Google unless you are in a lesson.
- Delete your account: Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, learning data, notes, consent history, lesson and usage records, and purchase-grant records, then signs you out. It cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. We keep a count of how many times each promo code was redeemed, with no link to you.
- Sign in with Apple: you can also stop using La Tutora with your Apple ID under Settings → Apple ID → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple (deleting your La Tutora account does not do this for you).
- Other rights: depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Email aaron@marketlou.com.
6. Children
La Tutora is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, email aaron@marketlou.com and we will delete it.
7. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Each learner can only reach their own records, enforced by our database. No system is perfectly secure.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. By using La Tutora you understand your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where they operate.
9. Changes
We will post changes here with a new effective date and may tell you in the app.
